Good news! Carrying hard copy of your driving licence, RC not mandatory now

Drivers will not be required to carry physical copies of vehicular documents like driving licence, registration certificate if they can be validated through Digilocker or mParivahan app on phones. Records of licences disqualified or revoked will be stored electronically. Further, drivers can use smartphones only for route navigation in a way that it does not disturb their concentration.

The notification is a big relief for the drivers as the previous law demanded them to present the physical documents (e.g. DL, RC, Pollution Check, and Insurance) as proof of eligibility to drive on Indian roads. This was a major concern not only for the drivers but even for the entire ecosystem including law and enforcement machinery, and the insurance industry.
